Accessing cannabinoid-based medicines
• All registered medical doctors in Australia can prescribe medical cannabis like any other prescription medicine
• Zelira medicines are available in pharmacies Australia-wide, with delivery available to most Australian locations
To get started we suggest the following steps
Step 1 Discuss with your doctor
To consider if medicinal cannabis is an appropriate treatment, your doctor will make an evidence-based assessment considering your symptoms, family history and any other treatments that have been tried before.
To prescribe medicinal cannabis, your doctor will apply through the Special Access Scheme (SAS) pathway. Some doctors are already authorised prescribers or are familiar with the process to prescribe.
